LG announces ice cream cell phone

Lg_ice_cream_phoneIf you've already got an ice cream cell phone charm, then you obviously need an ice cream cell phone to go with it.

What's an ice cream cell phone, you ask? Well, according to LG Electronics, it's Korea's LG-LH5000 handset in white, pink, and light blue. I know. That's just so ice cream. Now I understand the whole white = vanilla and pink = strawberry thing, but since when is "sweet blue" associated with pistachio? The oddity must be a marketing strategy because other than that, there's nothing special about a 2.2" display, 2-megapixel camera, or lights that indicate incoming calls. Not these days, anyway, and certainly not for 500,000 KRW (about $500).

Ice cream cone wall clock

Icecream_clock_adbsWhenever I draw an ice cream cone, which is actually more often than you would think (my artistic arsenal doesn't include much more than dessert and a cartoon-like spotted sea monster), the colorful ones shown on this 10" clock are the kind I try to make. They look exactly like the ones I imagine when my pen touches the paper (okay, fine, when I pick up a Magna Doodle).

That's why this clock stood out among all the other ice cream clocks out there. I just love the soft palette of colors used, the matching numbers, and the arrangement of the cones. The clock is powered by a AA battery (included) and is available now for $18.99.

Hello Kitty ice cream clock radio

Hk_icecream_clock_radioIn contrast to the Hello Kitty ice cream phone charm, the Ice Cream Clock Radio shows Ms. Kitty looking quite small next to the LCD-bearing vanilla scoop.

The cone features an AM/FM radio as well as sleep/snooze and other buttons disguised as star-shaped sprinkles. Kitty herself, sitting pretty in a pool of melted ice cream, appears to be purely decorative. Man, nothing makes this cat smile!

I don't think the clock radio is being manufactured anymore, so widely respected retailers like Amazon and Buy.com are all showing the item as no longer available. LetMom.com has it for $31.90, but I've never heard of them before and they're not listed at ResellerRatings.
