Ice cream sundae crochet pattern

Sundae_crochet_pattern_sbMy god, if I knew how to make this crocheted ice cream sundae myself, I think I'd have to quit writing and set up a permanent stand at a craft fair.

Just look at it! The elegant sundae dish, the chopped nuts sprinkled on the hot fudge, the wafer sticks, the cherry: everything is impeccable. Thanks to the generous nature of stripeyblue over at Etsy, I can pick up the pattern for this 5" crocheted ice cream treat for just $4 and crochet away. All I'd need to start churning out my own handmade sundaes are the supplies. Oh yeah, and the ability to crochet.

Now where can I buy that?

Plastic ice cream cone lamp

Ice_cream_lamp_ffYou wouldn't think it from the picture, but this plastic ice cream cone lamp from fredflare.com is actually more than two feet tall!

Doesn't that seem, you know, unnecessarily large? I usually think of ice cream as being immune from the "too much of a good thing" adage (how can there ever be too much ice cream, right?), but this jumbo lamp is certainly making me reconsider how I pass out those immunity necklaces.

Maybe it's just my fondness of miniatures that makes me think how much cuter the lamp would be if it were, say, five or six inches tall instead. I wouldn't mind a string of Christmas lights or a small nightlight either. I don't know. Maybe I just can't imagine paying $48 for a novelty lamp that would be almost as tall as my two-year-old niece.

Chocolate waffle cup sundae candle

Ice_cream_waffle_candleEven though we all know how ice cream candles are made, it's still hard not to be impressed when faced with something that looks as realistic as this nearly two-pound (!) chocolate waffle cup sundae candle from Forever And A Day Gift Boutique. It stands about 6" tall and will turn into a unrecognizable pool of scented melted wax only after 80 to 100 hours, which in lighted-candle terms is a very long time.

Available now for $17 each.

Ice cream candle and soap silicone molds

Ice_cream_silicone_mold_umI don't want to be the Destroyer of Magic or official Bubble Burster, but since I already stepped into the role when I crushed the faith of those who believed that a silicone mold wasn't involved in the making of Hostess cupcake candles and soaps, I may as well embrace what I've become and turn the spotlight on Unlimited Molds' nice selection of ice cream silicone molds.

From single scoops ($17.95) and ice cream sandwiches ($16.25) to the makings of a banana split ($35.99) and the single serving of soft-serve ($9.95) shown here, the roots of everything we've seen as amazingly realistic-looking ice cream soaps and candles can probably be traced to a silicone mold.

It is a sad, sad day.

Ice cream sundae candle

Sundae_candle_jlockeA triple-scoop Neapolitan ice cream sundae topped with pineapple, hot fudge, and strawberry sauce may be the makings of a traditional banana split, but this so-called banana split candle ($15) is anything but traditional.

Sure, it features the requisite cherry-topped dollop of whipped cream like any good banana split would, but it's missing one thing. Well, two halves of one thing, really.

Perhaps to compensate for the missing banana, the candle is equipped with three wicks that can be lit all at once or separately to "enjoy each scent individually."

Ice cream cone wall clock

Icecream_clock_adbsWhenever I draw an ice cream cone, which is actually more often than you would think (my artistic arsenal doesn't include much more than dessert and a cartoon-like spotted sea monster), the colorful ones shown on this 10" clock are the kind I try to make. They look exactly like the ones I imagine when my pen touches the paper (okay, fine, when I pick up a Magna Doodle).

That's why this clock stood out among all the other ice cream clocks out there. I just love the soft palette of colors used, the matching numbers, and the arrangement of the cones. The clock is powered by a AA battery (included) and is available now for $18.99.

Ice cream tile coaster makes fun of hardships

Icecream_coaster_mss

Hmm. I'm feeling a bit conflicted about this Ice Cream Quote Tile Coaster ($7). On the one hand, it features six scoops of richly colored ice cream, which is always a plus. On the other, however, the "life's hard . . . ice cream helps" quote printed at the bottom is a tad cold-hearted. I understand the mild humor in the message, but I really don't like that "cat died" is lumped in with something as trivial as a bad hair day. I'm obviously under the influence of my perfectly lovely cat, who's napping beside me as I write this, but I'm sure someone who's just had their heart broken can see my point.

I'm definitely reading too much into this. I think I need some ice cream.

Hello Kitty ice cream clock radio

Hk_icecream_clock_radioIn contrast to the Hello Kitty ice cream phone charm, the Ice Cream Clock Radio shows Ms. Kitty looking quite small next to the LCD-bearing vanilla scoop.

The cone features an AM/FM radio as well as sleep/snooze and other buttons disguised as star-shaped sprinkles. Kitty herself, sitting pretty in a pool of melted ice cream, appears to be purely decorative. Man, nothing makes this cat smile!

I don't think the clock radio is being manufactured anymore, so widely respected retailers like Amazon and Buy.com are all showing the item as no longer available. LetMom.com has it for $31.90, but I've never heard of them before and they're not listed at ResellerRatings.
